Powderhorn took over the Vail Cascade last week for the annual Sales Meeting and collection preview. Team riders Rob LaPier, Cedar Jocks, Tucker Mead, and Caitlin Ciccone were invited to visit Vail's morning show on Thursday morning... great week with the Powderhorn Team!!

Magic Moments

Last weekend, Storm Show Productions debuted it's newest addition to their ski flick repertoire with Magic Moments. Powderhorn athletes Rob LaPier, Tucker Mead, Jessica Baker, and Caitlin Ciccone are all spotted on the screen shredding powder and looking good.

Ceramic Down

The brilliant product developers over here at Powderhorn worldwide headquarters introduced a new addition to the world of down jackets this season - Ceramic Down. In the 2009 collection, two new styles incorporate ceramic down into the down fill. Ceramic is a heat conductor. In the Gunpowder Jacket (men's) and Powdersmoke (women's), the down insulation is interwoven with ceramic yarn storing or releasing heat and dispersing it throughout the jacket, depending on your body's temperature. This piece is lightweight and high tech, making it the ideal all around jacket for backcountry adventures, visits to the white room, and bluebird groomers.

Bringin' back the retro cowboy look of the 1970's with the Powderhorn Pearl Jacket. Featured in Ski Magazine's 'Fashion Flashback' article, the Pearl Jacket combines ski fashion with a touch of western cowgirl.

2009 Fall Collection

Here we are in mid-September. I know we still have a ways to go before the snow begins to fly... but here, the leaves are just beginning to change, the evenings are getting a little bit shorter and the mornings just a shade darker. As we approach Fall and hang on to the last few days of summertime, the skiing dreams begin... I had one last night, I'll admit. Typically the skiing dreams don't start for me until mid-October, maybe even early November depending on the weather. September 11 is early! Must be because the new line is on the way...

The new 2009 collection is beginning to arrive here at the Powderhorn warehouse, and to get you excited to see it on the store floor, take a look at this short video for a glimpse into the new winter line. Powderhorn certainly has come a long way since the cowboy days of the 70's...

Chile Summer '09

Powderhorn athlete, Matt Mulligan is heading down to South America for a couple months of travel and skiing. Filming with Shadow Puppet Productions, Matt will kick off the S.A. tour with 3 weeks of skiing pow in Portillo, Valle Nevado, and Termas de Chillan.

Looks pretty good down there right now, as the forecast is calling for lots of snow! The road into the resort have even been closed the last two days due to too much snow! Is that possible? Hope you brought your snorkel, Matt!

Swift Silent Deep

Just released on DVD, Swift.Silent.Deep is the story of a renegade group of skiers exploring the unknown realm of out-of-bounds skiing in the early days of Jackson Hole. The boys of the Jackson Hole Air Force truely pioneered the 'ski bum' lifestyle as it is known today... being drawn purely by their desire to ski powder. This film documents the salad days of Jackson's Benny Wilson, Howard Hendersen, and their band of civil disobedient skiers who set the bar for extreme skiing.
